5 + 5= 1

Post-Apocalyptic Literature -  This type of literature is associated with ‘end of the world’ events.

Low-culture - The novel is influenced by B-Movies(Films to do with Aliens, Zombies, Gore) McCarthy took ideas from these low- cultured films and transformed them into a more profound, sophisticated perception of the horror genre.

Missile Crisis - The road was also influenced by the Cuban Missile crisis. McCarthy took his son to Nevada and was inspired by the thought of him and his son being the only people left in the world.

Post-Modern -
‘The Road’ is deliberately mixed genres which suggest a more post-modern way of thinking.

Bricolage – This is the construction or creation of a work from a diverse range of things that happen to be available, or a work created by such a process. McCarthy took a range of influences when writing this novel, including those from low- culture interests.

Final word to summarise everything so far:
Dystopia
